The MP for Weija-Gbawe Constituency who doubles as Deputy Health Minister under His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo administration, Hon. Tina Naa Ayeley Mensah today Monday 22nd October, 2018 visited and empathized with some victims of the Weija dam spillage in her constituency.
Stating facts, on the late hours of Sunday 21st October, 2018, distress call was sent to Hon. Tina Naa Ayeley Mensah in respect of the spillage orchestrated by the Ghana Water Company.
Following the distress call by the good Samaritans, she led a delegation to visit the victims of the areas affected by the spillage. Areas affected by the spillage include parts of Weija, Tetegu, Wiaboman and New Weija.
At the spillage scene, she empathized with victims who unfortunately got affected by the spillage and advised residents who are living close to the river banks or the water ways to take immediate steps to relocate to avert future calamity.
She warned residents who lived around the spillways but were not affected to take precautionary measures since there could be further spillage in coming ways.
In a close up interview with hardpointonline.com, the hardworking Member of Parliament advised residents to avoid putting up houses along the stretch of the dam to avoid being affected by the spillage each time the spillways are opened.
She called on the Weija/Gbawe Municipal NADMO team to work around the clock to ensure that relief items are sent to the victims and also evacuate them from such areas to avert calamity.
