The ever smiling state woman in an interview granted filed this advice to some students who are on scholarship. According to her, she has been able to secure scholarship for 5 students to study under graduate and post graduate degree programmes in both local and abroad universities.
She stated that, securing a scholarship package for constituents in not easy, particularly looking at the number of people who are brilliant and looking forward to be awarded scholarship to undertake a programme in a field of study.
She underscored the importance of education and remarked that, building this nation requires that we train the mind and hands of the youth who are the future leaders of this noble country. “Education offers an individual the opportunity to learn to broaden his or her scope of knowledge and skills”, she stated.
She however, advised the students she has secured the scholarship for to study local and abroad to take their lessons serious since they are fortunate to benefit from the scholarship package.
She further stated that, education is dear to her heart since she is a beneficiary of those who had the opportunity to study on scholarship. She recounted her experience at GIMPA when she was sponsored by His Excellency President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to study Public Administration. She stated without mincing words that, awarding scholarship to the needy but brilliant students offer them the opportunity to study to become better persons to live meaningfully to themselves and the nation. “When opportunity in the form of scholarship is created for brilliant but needy persons, the nation is able to produced great minds to aid the developmental course of this country” she emphasized.
“Our nation can have great minds if only we spend most of our resources to provide scholarship packages to our brilliant but needy students to pursue their study both local and abroad.
She was however quick to state that the New Patriotic Party is poised to provide more scholarship through the National Scholarship secretariat to person who are brilliant but would need assistance from government to pursue their education.
