MASLOC kick start in Weija- Gbawe- 250 beneficiaries

The Municipal Micro and Small Loan Centre (MASLOC) has commenced operations in Weija-Gbawe Municipality which also doubles as a constituency.

As at yesterday Tuesday 29th of Janauary, 2019, an amount of GHc 800 each was disbursed as startups to women who sell eggs, charcoal, ice water, among others.

The women numbering 250 in totality are constituents of Weija-Gbawe.

The initiative which received severeal applause and commendation was driven by the Member of Parliament for the area-Hon. Tina Naa Ayeley Mensah.

In a close chat with the ever passionate and hardworking lawmaker, she recounted that she took same loan from MASLOC under the NPP administration led by Former President Kufuor to grow her business and paid back the principal amount with the interest, hence all beneficiaries are to pay back the loan without defaulting to enable others to benefit in similar kind.

“I have no doubt these hardworking women will make good use of the money disbursed to them” she emphasized.

In an advice, she cautioned all beneficiaries to inject the money into profitable and viable ventures to enable then recoup returns on the principal amount.

She pleaded the blessings of God on their business and wished them well.

She admitted that though there are a lot more out there who did not benefit from the MASLOC, they are to exercise some restraints since bigger and more money would be made available soon to cater for all.

The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Patrick K.B. Kumor accompanied the MP to ensure the money is evenly distributed to the beneficiaries.

According to him, the women should not see the money disbursed to them as giveaways, but as money to change their lives, hence the need to make good use of the money.

The amount disbursed by the Municipal Micro and Small Loan Centre (MASLOC) is expected to be paid in Six months installment attracting 2% on the principal disbursed each month.
