Government through the Controller and Accountant General’s Department (CAGD) has set out time lines to release cheques to banks to pay salaries and wages of Government workers for the year 2018 in an attempt to ensure that salaries and wages are paid prompt.
The time lines for the payment were communicated in a circular signed and filed on 29th November, 2017 by Eugene A. Ofusuhene of the Controller and Accountant General’s Department copied to all Chief Directors, Regional and District Coordinating Directors, Heads of Departments, all Regional Directors of CAGD and all banks across the country.
According to the time lines stated in the circular, January salary, February, March and April will be released the banks on 18th, 22nd, 26 and 25th of the respective months. May, June, July and August will be sent to the banks on 24th, 25th, 26th and 27th respectively.
Also, cheques for September, October, November and December salary and wages will be sent to the banks on 25th, 23rd and 18th respectively.
The salaries and wages to be released on the banks will be credited in individual account by the banks from the dates mentioned above
The circular states that any change in dates for payment of 2018 salaries and wages will be communicated as and when necessary to the Ministries, Department, Agencies and respective banks.
