The Deputy Heath Minister who doubles as MP for Weija-Gbawe constituency in the Greater Accra Region, Hon. Tina Naa Ayeley Mensah joined community folks in her constituency to embark on a clean up event.
The event held in the early hours of today Saturday 20th of October, 2018 was massively attended by men and women in her constituency.
The event dubbed keeping Weija/Gbawe Municipality clean was organized by assembly men in the Municipality under the distinguished patronage of Hon. Tina Naa Ayeley Mensah and Hon. Patrick K.B. Kumor, the Municipal Chief Executive for the Assembly.
The historic clean up exercise commenced at Mallam junction a popular area in the Municipality noted for filth; continued along the main Kosoa-Winneba Road, all the way to the toll both.
Other community folks also cease the opportunity to clean their houses and surroundings as part of the event.
In a close up interview with the Deputy Health Minister, she noted with appreciation stating emphatically, she was impressed by the people that turned up to participate in the historic clean up event.
When asked if the clean up event will be a ritual affair, she replied affirmatively and stated that as Deputy Health Minister sanitation is one of the key issues dear to her heart; therefore she has plans to ensure that regular clean up exercises are made a routine in her constituency which doubles as the Municipal Assembly.
“A clean community reduces cases of sickness; therefore it is imperative that we all maintain a good sanitation culture” she emphasized.
She called on all constituents and stakeholders which include shop owners and petrol station operators to be part of the next sanitation exercise which will be part of her project to keep the constituency clean.
