Assembly Members should Champion the Implementation of Id1f- Moses Abor Calls

The Elected Assembly Member for Kokomlemle East Electoral Area in the Ayawaso Central Constituency in the Greater Accra Region, Moses Abor has called on the ruling NPP and government to ensure that Assembly Members in the various Metropolitan Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) are given the opportunity to champion the course for the implementation of the Flagship programme- one district one factory(1d1f).

According to the outspoken Assembly Member who  is the Chairman for all Elected Assembly Members in the Greater Region and the head of the Rapid Response Unit of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly, the Elected Assembly Members who are part of the local government set up in the various MMDAs are the first point of call at such levels; therefore they know the pressing needs of the people living in such assemblies. “ To make the implementation of the much touted programme a success, inputs in the form of proposals from the various Elected Assembly Members should be considered”, he stated vehemently.

The much celebrated Assembly Member said, the one district one factory programme which was launched by the President in Ekumfi in the Central Region few months ago is an investment package by government to set up small and medium factories in all the 216 districts to create jobs for the teeming majority of youth across the country; therefore to have value for the investment, government need to consult the various Assembly Members for their inputs to make the programme a success.

“We are with the masses and we know which economic venture government should invest and set up factories around” he stated emphatically. We do not want instances where factories will be set up in some locations which will not be viable, he added.

He placed on record that the establishment of the local government concept and  it legal framework such as the local government Act which seeks to empower the various assemblies and their members, has not been given the needed recognition, attention and support; hence the purpose of the local government concept in his view is defeated.

He was however optimistic that H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the magnanimous president of the country will listen  and consider his plea to ensure that Elected Assembly Members are pivotal in the implementation of the one district one factory concept.

He is currently the Youth Organizer for Ayawaso Central Constituency aspiring for the position of the Greater Accra  Regional Youth Organizer of the ruling New Patriotic Party.
